Glacier National Park Ceremony Sites - East Glacier

UPDATED 1/5/22

Elope Montana's Guide to Wedding Ceremony Locations in Glacier National Park.

Here, you will find all the spots we know and love and that you can get a ceremony permit for on the EAST side of Glacier National Park.  We don’t have as many photo examples for this area as most couples choose to stick closer to West Glacier, but we are always up for a drive (just note that we charge more for travel time.)

This year, the park is only allowing weddings of 15 or less in all permitted spots (perfect as we only hold elopements of no more than 12 people!) Almost all of the East Side locations are limited to 8 or less.

First up, one of our favorites that we frequented often the summer that East Glacier and Many Glacier were closed.

Sun Point

Reasons we LOVE Sun Point: It’s dramatically beautiful! This rocky outcrop juts out into St.Mary lake and is just MAJESTIC! We also love it because there is an optional short hike to a waterfall for photos after your ceremony. Such a bonus! Downfalls: You can’t have more than 12 people here and it can be REALLY windy. Whitecaps on the lake kind of windy. Wind adds movement and drama to your photos, but it can also snatch your veil right off your head and wreak havoc on your hair. Also, expect spectators. Folks are usually very respectful when you show up in your wedding best though. It’s a drive. (about 2 hours one way, but then we have the whole Going-to-the-Sun road back to get stunning photos!)

Wild Goose Island Pullout

SADLY- THIS IS NO LONGER A PLACE YOU CAN GET A PERMIT!!! FOR YOU COUPLES WHO DID YOURS HERE! REJOICE!

Two Medicine

Reasons we LOVE the Two Medicine area: THE MOUNTAINS are breathtaking! And, not to mention, Pray Lake is completely gorgeous. You can have up to 30 people here, however, Elope Montana only works with groups no bigger than 12 for elopements.

1. Pray Lake (max 30)

2. Two Medicine Campground Group sites (max 12)

3. Two Medicine Campground Group Site Amphitheater (max 30)

4. Two Medicine Picnic Area (max 12)

5. Walton Picnic Area (max 15)

Many Glacier

Reasons we LOVE the Many Glacier: Oh la la, where do we begin? It’s really like another world. It’s like its own little National Park. It’s a trek, but worth it. It’s been called the Switzerland of the USA - It’s that spectacular! Downfalls- it’s a trek, like we said. Plan on at least a 3-hour drive from West Glacier (if driving going to the school) So it’s ideal if you have accommodations in Many Glacier.

There are multiple locations once you are in Many Glacier. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Shore of Josephine Lake (Max 15)

  2. Many Glacier Hotel Beach (max 15)

  3. Many Glacier Hotel Green (behind main Lodge) (max 15)

  4. Many Glacier Hotel- SW beach (max 15)

  5. Hotel Deck (max 10)

  6. Many Glacier CG Amphitheater (max 20)
